"There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love." 1 John 4:18

The Nutella and chocolate diet |
This morning we had to practice at 8am to get a few things together before camp. We had to run through and practice our material for stunt class since we had to increase the difficulty. Thankfully, we got done earlier than planned and had time to relax and go to the store. Eating as a vegetarian this past week has been difficult. For those of you that know me, I am a health freak so I think the camp food has been a test of patience and flexibility for me, but no worries I had Nutella to save the day, and yes I know Nutella is not healthy at all. My belief is that if I have to eat something unhealthy, might as well eat the one that tastes better!
After freshening up from practice and lunch, we got dressed and headed to the gym for camp to start at 2pm. As we came out for our performance for the campers, I noticed the difference in energy since it was an older group of campers. There were about 12 teams at this camp so again we had 2 staffers to a team. This week I was paired with Jana again, which I was grateful for the extra time we got to spend with each other :) Our FBI's for the week were the coed teams Prague Eagles/Basta as well as a small all girl team called Dynamic.
Later that evening we had jump jam, spirit sticks ceremony, then primetime. I spoke on love, the type we have for each other and the type that God has for us. The Bible verse I shared was from 1 Corinthians 13:4-8a
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails."
I love these verses because it truly describes the characteristics of what selfless love is. Sometimes we get caught up in the idea that love is what you get out of the other person rather than giving without expecting. Of course we are not perfect, and the only person capable of true love is God, but God's love should be a standard we hope and strive for.
Later that night, we had our debriefings for the day of observations, frustrations, and prayer requests. We have been truly blessed to have the Czech staff with us for these camps. Although they are not Christians, they have been so accepting of our God and have even stayed for our all the staff devotions and prayer time. This is only the second year FCC has used Czechs as staffers in addition to U.S. staffers, and it has been amazing so far!
